Amy-Lynn van Dijk

1. Who are you?

Hey! I am Amy-Lynn, 18 years old and I’ve lived in Groningen since this schoolyear. Originally, I’m from Sneek (Friesland, The Netherlands).

2. What do you do?

I’m a first year CIS student. I also work as a cashier at the Albert Heijn on the Nieuwe Ebbingestraat around 3 to 4 times a week, so you can often find me there too :)

3. Why are you a member of Commotie?

Right when I signed up for CIS I knew I wanted to be a part of the study association too. I checked out the website and it all looked so nice and fun and I wanted to be a part of that. It’s a very nice way to meet new people and to do fun activities together!

4. Are you an active member as well?

Yesss, I’m in the AlmanacCee! How I got there is actually kind of funny. I talked a little to the board about the committees during the introduction week and I had a bit of contact with Yente about the AlmanacCee afterwards. I had to work during the committee market, so I didn’t go there and didn’t really think about it much afterwards. That is, until I was walking home from work once and got a call from Yente. The board was forming the committees and she asked me if I wanted to be in the AlmanacCee. Impulsively, I said yes! Best decision ever, because I had a really fun year being in the AlmanacCee :))))

5. How do you friends call you?

Usually they just call me Amy-Lynn or Amy. My older sister always calls me Cookie, but only she can call me that hahaha

6. To which animal do you relate the most?

I think I relate the most to felines, but I don’t know which one specifically. My astrology sign is Leo so maybe a lioness to stay in the same line haha

7. Which activity of Commotie is most memorable?

Hmmm hard to choose… I really liked the social at the beginning of the year because we could all see each other in real life. I also really enjoyed the cocktail workshop!

8. What are you most proud of?

I think how the year 2020 went for me in general. I got my driver’s license, graduated high school, got  a little promotion at my job, started a new study & went to live on my own for the first time. I’m definitely proud of those accomplishments.

9. What is your favorite spot in Groningen?

I love the Prinsentuin, as it’s very pretty and has a very peaceful atmosphere. I also really like to sit in Noorderplantsoen with my friends when it’s sunny outside.

10. What did you want to be when growing up?

When I was very young I wanted to be a fairy hahaha. Later on, when I developed a bit more common sense I wanted to be a writer.

11. What is your favorite way of spending your free time?

I love listening to music, reading, spending time with my friends and/or my housemates and taking walks. Oh and spending time with my 3 cats when I’m home in Sneek!

12. What ability do you really want to have?

I think it would be really sick to be able to speak a lot of languages.

13. What is your biggest guilty pleasure?

Watching trash tv/reality tv haha. I have seen every season of Ex on the Beach Double Dutch and I absolutely love the drama.

14. What don’t you like?

People who are dishonest & people who are quick to judge other people. I also dislike snow, ice and cold weather in general (I blame this on my part African roots)

15. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I do not really have a plan for the future, so I have no idea actually. I think (hope) that I will have finished my studies around 5 years from now, so I will probably be looking for a job.

16. Which Commotie member would you vote for to become president?

I think Vera would be a good president. From what I have seen, she is very orderly, open-minded and has a problem-solving kind of mindset. Those traits would make for a great president I think!

17. Which two members of Commotie should go on a date?

Most members of Commotie that I personally know are already in relationships and I don’t know everyone else well enough to predict who they should date, so I have no idea, sadly enough.

18. To whom do you want to pass the keyboard and why?

I want to pass the keyboard to Kim Strijkveen, because I had a very fun evening with her at one of the activities!
